Don’t Give Up Yet! How To Stick To Your New Year’s Resolutions
So we all make these big health and fitness resolutions every new year. And good for us! It’s great to be motivated and willing to try to accomplish new goals to build a better lifestyle. All of us over at Yowza do the same thing.
But here is a problem we’ve run into: Sometimes, we make the goals (dare we say it?) a little too big. Or at least, too big too soon.
Have you ever heard of January-March gym-goers? Maybe not that term, specifically, but you know – those of us who join a gym in January or get a piece of exercise equipment for Christmas, and that membership or equipment gets put to great use all of January. But by February, the motivation dies a bit, and by March you’re dusting off the “old” treadmill on cleaning days.
It happens to the best of us.
However, there is a solution. Although you know what you want your end results to be, sometimes you may have to slow down in order to get there.
Start by working out the details of what days you can actually work out. Sometimes we make goals for ourselves that essentially end up stressing us out more than helping. Look at a calendar for the rest of the month; mark on there what a realistic workout schedule is for you. It may only be twice a week, and that’s okay! You can always up your days once you get into a routine. But by putting less pressure on yourself, you won’t want to throw in the towel completely.
Also remember that we are still regrouping from the holiday season. That means eating a healthier diet right away may be a bit more difficult than we anticipated. So ease into your new routine, instead of just jumping into it cold turkey.
Another way to keep your goals on track is to write them down and put them where you can see them everyday. Write down five goals for yourself every week, and do your absolute best to get them accomplished. They could be as simple as, “I will go to the gym on Monday and Thursday; I will cut out soda every other day”. Just little detailed statements so that you don’t let yourself down.
Some at-home workout machines, such as the latest in the Yowza EVO series, the Naples Elite, come with devices such as the IWM Bluetooth Weight Scale. By just pressing the IWM button on your Yowza machine, your current weight will be saved. Once you enter a few more details into the machine, a workout will be designed for you.
Another aspect of Yowza machines that will make your route to achieving your goals a bit easier is the myLiveLight app. When you download the app on your tablet or smart phone, you can keep track of your weight, calories, and activity. The app syncs to the screen on your Yowza machine, allowing the app to automatically update your progress. Fitness life can’t get much easier than that!
If you belong to a gym, many cardio machines, such as the Technogym cardio line, now have updated touch technology right on the machines that allows guests to take advantage of “Virtual Training”. With a personalized login, guests can program their favorite workouts, browse the Internet, play games, and more, all while getting a great workout in. Technology like this helps to make the time go by faster and attain your goals with a more entertaining, fun workout.
Starting off a little more slowly than you had anticipated will end up in quicker results for you in the long run. Remember that 2015 is your year to finally have the healthy lifestyle and body you have been hoping for. Take your time, ease into it, and the results will show all of your hard work!
